Alumni from Tamil Nadu appears in Deccan Chronicle

The alumni from Tamil Nadu worked for the tsunami affected children by starting hostels for boys and girls and they have been successfully running it since 2006.

Fourth Nagarjuna Institute Alumni conference concluded

Nagaloka Institute is holding regular alumni conference for last four years. The theme of the fourth alumni conference was “Towards Prabuddha Bharat: Survey and action”. The conference was held during 1-8 February 2012 and over 100 alumni participated.

Dhammachari Lokamitra gave a series of lectures on the theme of “Prabuddha Bharat”-Enlightened India. These lectures were followed by discussions in the groups.

Mangesh Dahiwale made presentation on relationship between Prabuddha Bharat,vision of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, and democracy.

Dhammachari Manidhamma gave a talk on “Buddha or Karl Marx”. Dhammachari Maitreyanath talked on “Social Transformation and Dhamma” through historical survey of TBM. Dhammachari Vivekratna talked on Sangharakshita’s commentary on the Sutra of Golden Light.

The conference was conducted in the retreat like setting, in which participants followed routine of meditation and Puja. The alumni from all over India made presentations on their work and difficulties involved in their work.

Evening were devoted to cultural aspect of Prabuddha Bharat.


Admissions open for 2012-2013

Nagarjuna Institute is running one year course in “Buddhism and social action” since 2003. Over 670 youths from 22 states have been trained. They are working in their respective villages, towns and states all over India. The batch of 2011-2012 completed the training in February 2012.

Nagarjuna Institute is inviting applications for admission for year 2012-2013.
