Roaring voices of young Ambedkarite Academics: learning from the conference on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Democracy during 9-10 October 2019
The intellectual class of the society as envisioned by Babasaheb Ambedkar should not be disengaged from the society and social issues. The deeper engagement with the issues, their understanding, and their communication is crucial to awaken the society and mobilize it for freedom.
Around 50 young scholars presented their well-researched papers during two days of the conference and another 150 young scholars participated in discussions in 8 panels during the conference.
Their ideas and thoughts were summarized by the senior academics and were communicated to the larger audiences in the plenary sessions.
The keynotes were grounded in the theme and explored nuances of the critical issue of democracy in India today.
All in all, young Ambedkarite scholars are displaying world class knowledge in different dimensions of knowledge. These young roaring voices with the training in intellectual pursuit of the truth are going to have a transformative effect on not only their society, but on the world at large.
The conference was one of the definite steps towards organizing Ambedkarite Academics.
